Detailing the struggles of overcoming prejudice in a small town, a young man discovers his potential, and realizes that even heroes have heroes. Vividly written, easy-to-relate-to, and highly capable of altering your mood, this book will leave you deep in sympathy one moment, and happy as the protagonist the next. A fantastic read. 9.7/10 -Ebrahim Al-Faham 12th Grade
An amazingly realistic novel with a surprise twist of sci-fi, set in New York during the late 70s, this book follows Miranda as she is strung along by a series of mysterious notes that somehow seem to know what will happen before she does. Surrounding the difficulties in understanding friendship, equality, and time, this book is a classic must-read. -Elijah Bergevin, 10th Graderealistic
I recommend this book series to anyone who enjoys a fantasy book with adventure, comedy, action, and a little romance. Also, to those who like cartoons/manga and a series that can leave you hanging. Xandra Barlow-Terranova, 9th grader
I recommend Kindred by Octavia Butler., a quick historical fiction/sci-fi read that won’t let you put the book down until the very last page. While very informative regarding slavery in the 1800’s, it twists time travel and romance into the mix for a great experience. Erin Brown, 11th grade
Enders game is by far my favorite book, the characters experience things that only you can imagine and have gone through hard ships that will break your heart. This book has been loved by my family for two generations, hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Victoria Lew, 9th
The Book Thief is a magnificent story that tells of a young girl named Leslie who uses her love of books to connect with the people around her. Set in 1940’s Germany, it is a beautiful and dramatic tale in the perspective of Death. ~Rachel Rhone, 10th grade
I read this book recently, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was beautifully written and would have me laughing one moment, and crying the next. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves animals like myself, but the interesting thing about this book is that you don’t have to be a dog lover to enjoy it. Ultimately, it ended up being more about the relationships owners have with their pets, and the extraordinary power of love. Sophia Maggio, Grade 10
This science fiction-fantasy book is one of those books that you will read in one sitting! This book is about escaping: out of prison, out of marriage, out of a world of lies. When you are done with this one, be sure to read its award winning sequel, Sapphique!
